| Statement
My life, like the lives of most women, is a series of circles and cycles. I have grown from infant to girl to woman, to caring for infants, girls, adult daughters. Now I get to spoil grandchildren. It goes around and around. And what better symbolizes women than their hands – from little hands to strong hands to hands losing their strength and uniformity, but never their beauty. The hands in this hanging are my mother’s, mine, my three daughters, and my three granddaughters. Four generations of women – from my mother, born in 1905, to my youngest granddaughter, born 93 years later. |
